One place that I never tire of is Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion.

This charming spot, located to the left as you make your way back through the pavilion, is home to wonderful surprises. You all know my passionate love for the not-too-sweet, just-perfect schoolbread!
But it’s just the beginning of the awesome you’ll find in this tiny bakery. With rice cream, the traditional lefse (OK, I don’t think it’s that awesome, but a lot of you do!), and jam-filled waffles, there’s no shortage of fabulous desserts.
And today, we’re returning to Kringla to check out another gorgeous little pastry…
Berry Cream Puff Pastry at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe
The first thing you need to know about this one is that it’s enormous. Well, at least as far as cream puffs are normally concerned. Seriously. It’s as big as the schoolbread, just to give you a comparison.
A traditional cream puff, made of pate a choux, creates a tender shell for a generous helping of REAL, slightly sweetened whipped cream. The cream filling is studded with fresh berries, and the top is replaced and dusted with powdered sugar. It’s a simple, classic dessert, and a welcome respite from flashier sweets.
But how did it taste? OK, so here’s a good method to gauge whether or not I loved something I ate. Since I eat sooooo much when I’m at Disney World, I rarely am able to actually finish anything. But this? I just sat there at Kringla Bakeri and kept dipping my spoon into that whipped cream…savoring every single bite as I people-watched on the World Showcase promenade. It was one of my favorite recent Disney memories. Pretty fantastic.
The berries and whipped cream just seemed so…indulgent. Even in their simplicity. But that’s how it is when you have perfect ingredients. You don’t really need to fuss over them.
