The radical transformation of Epcot is well underway and pretty soon we’ll be wishing Future World a fond farewell and welcoming the new World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature districts with open arms.
Electric Umbrella has already closed to make way for the future, but today we’re taking to the skies on the monorail to see the rest of the construction progress happening around Epcot.
The area around the entrance of the park is seeing a bunch of pavement work right now. The removal of the Leave a Legacy monoliths has helped immensely with walking through this area and once the big planter is out from behind the walls again, the entrance will be looking extra nice!
We’re excited to see what the new Epcot fountain looks like when it’s finally out from behind these walls.
The concept art has our minds racing with images of an obelisk or beacon of water.
The area just behind Spaceship Earth is a maze of walls that surround the planters where more vegetation is being installed. This space will be known as Dreamers Point and it’s also where we’ll find the new statue of Walt himself gazing out towards a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
Here’s a look at the NEW Walt statue coming to Epcot.
Electric Umbrella has officially closed. Here’s a look at some of the construction progress happening in the area.
Not much to see from the World Discovery side but walls, walls, walls. The bathrooms by Test Track are blocked off, for now, so keep that in mind.
The booth for Taste Track has been up for a while now, but it’s still behind the hedges. This quick-service location is intended to take a little heat off of the closing of Electric Umbrella by serving up some classic theme park burgers and fries.
The old site of the Epcot Character Spot has been completely torn down and resurfacing work has begun.
This area will feature more flora that winds its way down to the new three-tiered festival center.
From where we’re standing, the future of Epcot is looking pretty bright. We just wish it didn’t come with so many construction walls! 😉
