Bonjour, mes amis from the Flower and Garden Festival! Festival after festival, the France Pavilion is usually the chateau to some stand-out food and beverage items!
Fleur de Lys is our next stop at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival! We even see a few new items on the menu, as well as some of our favorite French-inspired eats, returning!
Food
Yes, it’s true! Two new food items have appeared at Fleur de Lys this year while others have received a slight tweak!
But first up, let’s check out some of our old friends we’re excited to see again — like the Canard Confit à l’Orange! Instead of last year’s Canard Confit à la Provençal with tomatoes and olives on polenta this updated dish features Braised Duck Confit à l’Orange with mashed sweet potatoes for $6.25 — and it’s SOOO yummy! The duck is perfectly cooked and the flavors are nice and rich!
Last year’s Tarte au Chévre has been renamed Tarte aux Oignons Caramelises et Chévre and costs $5.50! It’s a Goat Cheese Tart with caramelized onions served on a flaky pastry crust! Despite the name change, the tarte was still delicious and one of our favorite items. The onion flavor is intense, while the crust is light and buttery!
Now it’s time to dine on Fleur de Lys two new dessert offerings! First up, let’s dive into the Tarte Tropezienne, Coulis Framboise for $3! This item is a brioche cake filled with a light pastry cream and raspberry coulis served on the side! The custard was good and rich while the sauce was sweet with a little tartness that complimented it well.
The second sweet treat is the Éclair Chocolat Framboise for $6.50. While we were a bit sad to bid adieu to the chocolate macaron lollipop from 2019, this éclair filled with raspberry and chocolate mousse and topped with fresh raspberries was so delicious! Its large size makes it easily shareable if you’re feeling generous!
Beverages
And of course, you can’t stop by the France Pavilion without sampling their exquisite beverages! The first new drink we always have to get at Fleur de Lys is their signature La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy for $11.75! It’s made with vodka, Grey Goose l’Orange Vodka, St. Germain Liqueur, white and red cranberry juice, and is super, how do you say it en françias — YUMMY!
Next, we sipped the new VeRy Raspberry for $5.75! It’s a Rosé Wine with a natural raspberry flavor. We found it to be much sweeter than a regular rosé, but not too sweet for us. Plus it had a really dry finish which we loved!
Fleur de Lys’ other beverage options include a Bordeaux from Château Tarin for $6 and the Kronenbourg Blanc 1664 for $4.75 a glass.
When in France, we definitely recommend swinging by the Fleur de Lys food booth (and saying salut to the new Remy topiary, too!)
