The Disney World parks will be closed from the end of the day on Sunday, March 15th through at least the end of the month. While Disney Springs and Disney Resort Hotels are scheduled to remain open at press time, it appears there will likely be reduced transportation options available. PLEASE NOTE: This post has been updated with NEW information regarding Walt Disney World transportation as of March 16, 2020.
Disney Springs and Disney World Resort Hotels were originally slated to remain open during the temporary closure of the theme parks. However, it has since been announced that all Disney owned and operated locations in Disney Springs will be closed starting March 17th, and Disney World Resort hotels will close by 5:00 PM on March 20, 2020.
Guests will still have limited transportation options provided by Disney on March 16th and 17th. Disney buses will continue to operate between the Disney Resort hotels and the Disney Springs area, and the Monorail will transport guests to the three Resort hotels on the Resort Monorail loop: Disney’s Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian Village Resort.
However, all Disney transportation will be suspended starting the morning of March 18, 2020. Guests should note that this suspension does not include Disney’s Magical Express, which will continue to transport guests to and from Orlando International Airport through March 20, 2020.
The Disney Skyliner is now closed, and boat transportation is also unavailable.
This is the most up to date information we have received so far, but (as we have seen with a lot of the Coronavirus news) it is subject to change. We will continue monitoring the transportation offerings and will provide any updates as they occur!
