Just moments ago, news broke that Bob Iger, former CEO and current Executive Chairman of Disney, had joined California’s re-opening task force.
And while yesterday Orange County, Florida’s Mayor said he would be seeking Disney’s counsel for re-opening businesses in his state, he just made it official!
Mayor Demings said he would be releasing more information today regarding his task force and we’ve just learned Disney has made the list. Leaders from SeaWorld and Universal are also among the expert panel he’s assembled.
“These are some of the best and brightest minds in our community, and the public-private Task Force will come up with recommendations to reopen Orange County using the most safe and sensible avenues possible,” Demings said in a statement reported by News 13.
The first meeting of the task force will be held Wednesday, April 22nd, from 9 to 10:30 AM. The session will be broadcast on TV as well as streamed on the Orange County website.
The task force will discuss ways to reopen restaurants, hotels, theme parks, and other businesses that have been fully or partially closed because of the pandemic. We can expect their plans to include a phased opening approach to ease restrictions in accordance to the federal guidelines that were issued by the President yesterday. We’ll continue to follow this story and update you as more information becomes available.
