Haunted Mansion fans, rejoice!
Haunted Mansion is one of the most beloved attractions in Disney World. Which helps explain why we’ve seen merchandise inspired by the ride FLY off the shelves recently. And while Walt Disney Pictures did release a film inspired by the ride — The Haunted Mansion — back in 2003, it looks like a NEW movie is now in the works!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie Dippold is currently writing a feature film based on the Haunted Mansion attraction. Dippold’s other writing credits include the recent Ghostbusters reboot, and the 2013 comedy, The Heat.
The project is intended to be a live-action movie, and it’s being produced by the same team behind the 2019 Aladdin live-action remake. This isn’t the only attraction-inspired film in the works — Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, is currently set to premiere in theaters on July 30th, 2021.
There’s no word yet on an estimated release date for the new Haunted Mansion movie, but we’re excited to hear that this project is in the works! We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more info on what we can expect with this upcoming film!
