HELLO from Contempo Café in Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Festive Bakery Items at Contempo Cafe
We keep coming back to this counter service spot because they are serving up all sorts of seasonal snacks… and they just keep coming! From a classic Gingerbread Boy to a lovely Linzer cookie to festive Peppermint Bark, we’ve been checking out all the latest offerings. And the newest item joining the yuletide scene is the Chocolate Peppermint Yule Log.
This Yule Log features chocolate chiffon cake with chocolate peppermint mousse.

But what totally catches the eye are the toppings — there’s everything from “meringue mushrooms” to a chocolate piece formed like a gingerbread boy to a small piece of the chiffon further topped with decorative frosting to resemble holly.

Oh, and a chocolate MICKEY coin, too!

My goodness, there is a LOT going on here.

For all that, though, the chocolate and peppermint flavors are not all that prominent. The peppermint in the mousse offers just a hint of flavor. And from the looks of things, you might be expecting a chocolate lovers dream. But we wouldn’t necessarily say that’s what this is…

Now, all that may sound like bad news, but we really did find this enjoyable. The richness of this treat comes through in the texture, even for a lighter chiffon. And if you like that classic combo of chocolate and peppermint — I know I do! — this presents those tastes without overkill.
If you are all-in for all-out chocolate, get yourself straight to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in EPCOT’s France pavilion and try the Bûche de Noël aux Trois Chocolats, which could be right up your alley. The Chocolate Peppermint Yule Log is more subtle in its flavor profile, and enjoyable in its own way.

Hey Everybody and Merry Christmas!
Appreciate you all very much! You bring so much information and good cheer always!
I was wondering if you could tell me where you spotted the green jingle bell sipper? Last year I got the red one in Disney Springs within the forest of delightfully decorated Christmas trees.
Thanks for your help on this!
Have a Magical day!
Diane, we’ve spotted them at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. I have asked out onsite reporters if they’ve seen them anywhere else, and I’ll update if they have.
