It’s time for our weekly Disney World construction update!
It’s no surprise that there’s lots of construction going on as Disney gears up for its 50th anniversary, and we’re sharing all of it with you!
Disney is always changing one way or another. Whether prices are being adjusted, attractions are being closed and opened, or guest habits are varying; you’ll usually spot SOMETHING different year-to-year in the World.
This is especially true in the wake of the global health crisis. A lot had to change in a very short time. Some of those changes are going to disappear while others may be permanent. It’s entirely possible that a 2022 Disney World will look TOTALLY different from a 2021 Disney World (which was already a weird enough year to begin with!).
So, if you’re looking at taking that Disney trip in the next few years, you might be wondering if it’s better to schedule for this year or hold off until 2022. We’re here to help! We’re taking a look at the biggest differences and whether you should get that trip set for this year or next!
Disney World is totally revamping EPCOT with new attractions, nighttime shows, and even a new look!
EPCOT is a literal maze of construction walls and gutted buildings at the moment. The theme park is undergoing a MASSIVE overhaul that will totally transform the theme park. Guests will be able to experience all sorts of new adventures when it’s all said done. So, let’s take a photo tour so you can see exactly what the construction progress is and what construction looks like on ALL the BIG EPCOT projects.
EPCOT is a whirlwind of construction activity right now — there is SO much going on!
Disney World recently revealed the new EPCOT entrance fountain, but there are still a lot of projects underway there, including the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction, the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, a new nighttime spectacular called Harmonious, and more!
If you’re still shopping online for Christmas gifts, then it’s time to get a move on, because you’ve only got 2 weeks left!
And if you’re still struggling with what to give a loved one, then don’t fear, because we’ve got gift guides galore. If you make it through all of those and STILL haven’t found what you’re looking for, then keep reading, because today we’re sharing all the Disney merchandise that popped up online in the last 7 days!
New EPCOT attraction posters are HERE!
This year, Disney has slowly been releasing a BIG collection of limited edition EPCOT attractions posters with a very cool retro vibe. We’ve seen posters for World Showcase pavilions, nighttime spectaculars, and attractions of the park’s past, present, and future — but they’re VERY limited edition and they go FAST!
2020 has brought a LOT of twists and turns, and we’re still very much in the midst of grappling with them. This year and next were supposed to be exciting ones in terms of opening attractions.
There are still projects to be excited about, of course, but Disney has left us wondering when and if some of them will ever be completed. Luckily, there are a few BIG Disney attractions that we can still expect to open in 2021 — here are the upcoming projects scheduled for completion next year!
We’re SO excited for all the new things coming to EPCOT!
Last week we learned LOTS of exciting details about many of these projects during the “EPCOT — The Magic of Possibility” presentation as part of D23’s Fantastic Worlds events. Disney shared news about Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Harmonious, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and more! Not too long after that, Disney shared a press release on their website about the EPCOT transformation as well. And while this was all super exciting, we couldn’t help but notice a few things were missing. But we were also excited to see that a few things we haven’t heard about in a while were still mentioned. Let’s break it all down.
When we talk about the EPCOT Transformation, we spend a lot of time focused on the BIG aspects.
Sure, the Future World work is exciting and we’re pumped for the Harmonious Nighttime Spectacular, but what about the small details? We love the colorful new paint that arrived on the ticket booths a while ago and now there’s another little update!
Walt Disney Imagineering is often at the forefront of advancing technology. These Imagineers are the reason we have marvels like Rise of the Resistance and Flight of Passage. They’re also the reason we have moderately frightening images like this:
We’ll explain in a little. 🙂 The point is, Imagineers spend their days figuring out how to make high-tech experiences accessible to Disney consumers worldwide. Today, five new patents have popped up that might give us an idea of the sort of tech we could see in the not-so-distant future of Disney parks and products — and they could mean immersion like never before.
