But there are some trends that sunk their hooks into us, and we have to ask — did you fall for these trends, too? Let’s look at a few!
A few years back the oh-so-clever merchandise makers at Disney cooked up something special when they combined two of my mostest favoritest things ever, cupcakes and Vinylmations, into the Vinylmation Bakery series of collectibles. Disney characters hiding under Disney-themed faux frosting – delicious to look at!
They’ve done it again with a new series, Mystery Vinylmation Cupcakes, now available at disneystore.com, Disney Store retail locations, and in the parks for $12.95 each. Here’s the packaging. Note the bakery string printed on the boxes, such a sweet detail.
As this is an open-window set, where you can see which character (or character family) you’re getting, you can choose your favorite. But in a twist that’s new to the Vinylmation World, hidden in each open character is one of three mystery facial expressions. So you know, for example, that you’re getting Mickey, but you don’t know which of the three Mickeys you’ll receive. You have control and surprise in equal measure.
I purchased two of each of the six characters and was lucky enough to get two of the three variants for five of the characters. Confusing, eh? In other words, I bought 12 and got 11 different ones.
First I pulled the frosting off Figment.

Two of my absolute favorite parts of Disney are Goofy’s Candy Company and collecting Vinylmations. You can imagine my utter delight when I learned that worlds have collided and there is now a Vinylmation series entirely devoted to Goofy’s Candy Company.

While there have been many foodie Vinylmations in the past, this week saw the first-time introduction of a Vinylmation series dedicated to food items: the So Tasty series.
These are currently being sold at retail Disney stores and through DisneyStore.com for $11.95 each.
And besides being uber-adorable, these vinyl cuties are embedded with the scent they represent, just like the Jingle Smells series that appeared last Christmas.
So Tasty Vinylmation Set
Here they are, front and back:
I have to give a special shout out to the grape soda Vinyl, which smells so fabulously grape candy fake that I’m going to go order some Bottle Caps right now so I can really dive into the sensation. The grape soda also brings to mind the grape soda pin in the Pixar film “Up,” giving it an extra measure of [Read more…]

Kitchen Kabaret Vinylmation Set
Drum roll please… The Kitchen Kabaret Vinylmation set that we reported on back in September has now been released.
The 6-piece set is being sold at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland D-Street locations as well as few select in-park shops, retailing for $99.95. I’m not at the parks this week, so I’ll have to wait until the mailman brings me my set to show you up-close-and-personal photos of these vinyl veggies.
But to keep your hunger at bay, I do have a few foodie Vinylmation pictures for you to snack on.

Popcorn is a staple snack at theme parks. It’s the perfect parade-waiting, fireworks-viewing, queue-calming munchie at Walt Disney World. And unless you purchase your popcorn in a pricey souvenir bucket, you’ll spend one snack credit or about $3.95 to $4.95 for a small box/bag.
Most of us are familiar with the traditional flavors such as butter, cheddar, kettle corn, and caramel. But, have you tried any of the specialty flavors?
The DisneyParks Blog recently found some interesting popcorn varieties at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Mint, and Chocolate Caramel were all on display in pre-packaged bags.
And here are some of the Disney popcorn flavors that we reported on last year.
Indecisive? Grab the bag of Chocolate Cheddar Caramel! Apparently the Consumables Team (a superhero sounding name, if you ask me) is testing this salty and sweet mixture to see if guests find it, well, consumable. Flavor testing? Sign me up.
Patrice Guy, a developer on the Team, says sales results show that “it is proving to be popular with our guests.” Maybe this flavor will be in a Disney Park on your next visit!
Fans (and Erin, our resident vinylmation guru) should stay tuned for Vinylmation Popcorns.
Vinylmation designer Thomas Scott indicated that [Read more…]
